I started managing people at the age of twenty in a five man electronics store in Pittsburgh, PA. I quickly learned that employees do things for their own reasons not ours. After moving to Tandy Corp. I met a man who people wanted to follow. They achieved his expectations without exception because he made them want to do it. Becoming like him was my one goal. As we became friends I learned that this was not an accident and it was not natural ability. He used good management and training techniques. I too followed the teachings of the masters and at 25 became the youngest winner of the "Ring Of Honor" award for top performance and bottom line profit.
When asked what I did to achieve the top award in the company all I could think about was training. I was trained in management & training techniques, and I taught my managers to be good managers and trainers.
I now work with an awesome team at PNC Bank as a Training and Design Specialist. In this position, I act as Project Manager for many training design projects and facilitate soft skills. PNC is the first company I have ever worked with that truly live their values. Life is good!
Outside of my profession:
I have been happily married to Noreen for over 25 years and have two sons (Jon age 25 and Joe age 23).
In my spare time, I enjoy Golf, Hiking, Hunting, Fishing, riding ATVs with my boys, remodeling my home, and volunteering with senior citizens. My favorite sport teams are the Steelers and the Penguins (what do you expect, I was born & raised in Pittsburgh!)
Below are a couple of pictures to let you know a little more about me:
This is what Golf is all about!
